The Illam tea co-operative, deep in the far eastern Illam region of Nepal, now in organic conversion, is famous for its orthodox ‘china bush’ tea.
Though the tea plantation was started in Ilam about 138 years ago , it lay relatively fallow until the tea plantation revolution of the last 10/15 years.
The factory, with the state-of-the-art infrastructure, hygienically processes the tea leaves collected from hundreds of small tea growers on day-to-day basis.
The Golden Tips are the top of the local production consisting mostly of the uppermost golden tips of the plant producing a fantastic tea..
The brew has a coppery brown colour with an aroma of raw sugar cane juice. To drink it is slightly heavy with a sweet and malty taste, and hints of bitter chocolate and honey in the aftertaste.
Another wonderful, warming, full bodied tea of the highest quality.
1.as black tea- 2g per 100ml, 100 deg. C for 3-5 minutes.
2.gonfucha style-4-5 g per 100ml, 85 deg.C for 2 minutes increasing temperature each successive brew (90 deg, 2 min, 95…etc this method will produce more of the deeper honeyed notes to be released.)
