Nepali Earl Grey

Earl Grey220px-Bergamot fruit
A light black tea flavoured with natural oil obtained from the peel of the bergamot citrus.

According to a legend – gifted to a British Prime Minister, the 2nd Earl Grey, in the 1803 from a Chinese nobleman as a gift for saving his son.

This Nepali style Earl Grey also carries the characteristics of classic Himalayan teas; light, bright, noble and full bodied without the heaviness of classic Assam/Ceylon Earl Grey.

As a base our blend uses well prepared second flush tea from the Illam region in Nepal, with full high mountain tea characteristic-fresh, bright, noble, which is perfectly balanced with the bergamot oil.

Wonderful and refreshing with or without milk any time of the day.

Great also with chocolate desserts or used for creams and sauces.

50g-$6, 100g-$11, 200 -$20

Arya Tara White Tea Silver Tips

Arya Tara White Tea Silver Tips arya tara white tea silver tips

Hand made from the tenderest tips of the tea plant harvested in the Sri-Antu Illam area, Nepal; with 50-60 kgs of fresh leaf needed to obtain 1kg of dry tea….! The tea is hand sorted with the greatest care then processed in the Yin Zhen (silver needles) style. Being a Himalayan Tea however it differs from the classic silver needle style by retaining many of the high mountain Himalayan Tea characteristics including a brightness and sharpness (briskness), with a crystalline purity.

As a white style tea it is 100% withered with many silver hairs on the long curled leaf and zero fermentation.

This exceptional tea has a wonderful bright, light, yellow green colour in the brew, with an extremely pleasant flowery aroma, and herbal notes to taste, with a fine and noble aftertaste.

preparation
1.as black tea- 2g per 100ml, 100 deg. C for 3-5 minutes.

2.gonfucha style-4-5 g per 200ml, 85 deg.C for 2 minutes increasing temperature each successive brew (90 deg, 2 min, 95…etc this method will produce more of the deeper notes to be released.) up to 4-5 brews possible.

Golden Tip Himalayan Shangrilla Second Flush

himalayan shangrilla golden tips

Golden Tip Himalayan Shangrilla Second Flush

The Illam tea co-operative, deep in the far eastern Illam region of Nepal, now in organic conversion, is famous for its orthodox ‘china bush’ tea.

Though the tea plantation was started in Ilam about 138 years ago , it lay relatively fallow until the tea plantation revolution of the last 10/15 years.

The factory, with the state-of-the-art infrastructure, hygienically processes the tea leaves collected from hundreds of small tea growers on day-to-day basis.

The Golden Tips are the top of the local production consisting mostly of the uppermost golden tips of the plant producing a fantastic tea..

The brew has a coppery brown colour with an aroma of raw sugar cane juice. To drink it is slightly heavy with a sweet and malty taste, and hints of bitter chocolate and honey in the aftertaste.

Another wonderful, warming, full bodied tea of the highest quality.

preparation
1.as black tea- 2g per 100ml, 100 deg. C for 3-5 minutes.

2.gonfucha style-4-5 g per 100ml, 85 deg.C for 2 minutes increasing temperature each successive brew (90 deg, 2 min, 95…etc this method will produce more of the deeper honeyed notes to be released.)
